Tartan was founded over 50 years ago by the late Wes Nicol, who built the company into one of the city’s leading new home builders.
In 2021, Tartan Homes became a member of the Taggart Group of Companies, joining Taggart Construction Limited, Doran Contractors Limited, Taggart Realty Management, and Tamarack Homes under the Taggart Group banner.

Tartan’s commitment to customer care has always meant the process begins the first time we have any contact with you as a potential buyer – and continues right through until long after you move in to your new Tartan home, and that commitment continues today and into the future.

It's been great and we've been enjoying out Tartan home. We hear lots of horror stories from popular builders around, but we've never experienced any of those hiccups from our Tartan home. The quality has been really good. A year on and we are more than grateful to have picked Tartan to build our house. We love it!

We were allowed to make a conditional offer. This allowed us the time to sell our condo. Without the conditional sale, it is unlikely we would have purchased.Sarah was delightful to work with and very helpful. Always available and quick to respond to questions and issues.

The finishing is good, apart from some defects, which we have pointed out to Tartan. Tartan service team is amazing. the repair experience, while taxing on out time, is made easier with the Tartan team. Whenever service individuals by Tartan are on site, we trust their work implicitly. Some of the contractors' work is below par and that is why we usually prefer Tartan service individuals, when possible.

The sales rep i related with is Poonam, she was 100% amazing. she answered all my questions regardless of how silly they seem, she was professional to the core. However, all of Poonam's good work was thwarted by the use of Mortgage advisors and First national financial institution. they were HORRIBLE! made the whole process stressful and annoying. I was very close to pulling the plug on everything. They did not give full disclosures of the nitty grities of the buyback plan, they deliberately held back good information that could have aided my decision on whether or not to go ahead with it, they made unreasonable requests with very difficult timelines threatening not to finance the purchase. I disliked and regret every single bit of my interaction with them.

This is my second Tartan home.This is a really really nice house, the nicest house I ever owned.There were minor issues, but this is expected in a complex project such as a Tartan Home.There were issues in selection, but the solutions turned out better than the original choices.The design center person was fantastic.I would do it all over again, exactly the same.

The craftsman and the material quality is better than expected, although electric bulbs and switches are not of good quality and already showing signs of broken. The customer service representative (Randy) is very helpful, but forgets the same items during every visit. We are enjoying the home so far, but will enjoy even more when all the issues have been fixed.My suggestion is to provide the clear map of lot with all the dimensions mentioned clearly to avoid any conflict with neighbors.
